Terms of Service

Before you rely on this: this is a starting draft, not finished legal advice. It covers the standard ground for a SaaS approval-workflow tool, but you should have a lawyer familiar with your jurisdiction review and adapt it — especially the liability, data, and governing-law sections — before using it with paying customers or companies outside your own.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account, joining a company workspace, or otherwise using Sigil (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you're accepting these Terms on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind that company.

2. What Sigil does

Sigil lets a company create custom approval request forms, route those requests through one or more levels of approval, and notify relevant people by email as a request moves through the process. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis and may change, expand, or be discontinued at any time.

3. Accounts and companies

Anyone can create a new company workspace, becoming its administrator.
Additional people join a company workspace using that company's join code, provided by an administrator.
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
Company administrators are responsible for managing who has access to their workspace, including deactivating people who should no longer have access.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Submit or approve requests you know to be false or fraudulent.
Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the security of the Service.
Access another company's workspace or data without authorization.
Use the Service in violation of any applicable law.

5. Your data and content

Your company retains ownership of the request data, templates, and files it submits through the Service ("Your Data"). We access Your Data only as needed to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, or as required by law. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data.

6. Fees

The Service is currently offered free of charge. We may introduce paid plans in the future; if we do, we'll give you reasonable advance notice before any charges apply to your account.

7. Third-party services

Sigil relies on third-party infrastructure to operate, including cloud hosting and database services and a transactional email provider used to deliver notifications. Availability of the Service depends in part on these providers.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, for an individual account or an entire company workspace, if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated, or if required by law.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sigil and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify users. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
